Having not produced an HDR in a while and that they were brought up in discussion recently at work, I decided to see what I could do with a series of night shots. Given night photography already provides an unusual uniformity of lighting in hazy conditions around the city I thought with the snow, well, it was a perfect opportunity.

I decided to keep the blacks down low in an effort to keep some contrast since everything here is pretty lifeless to begin with, which worked but in some ways detracted from the available hints eluding to this being an HDR. I still think this turned out fairly well, although with the slight breeze the tops of some of the trees came out a little blurry (a faux vignette, if you will).

Not sure what this artwork represents, or whether I actually captured it from the right angle (I didn't bother to look), but this was one of the sights I observed along my leisurely stroll today. Given the fact that this was the first "real" snow of the season this year I took advantage by lacing up my boots and heading out the door. I probably spent about an hour walking around before heading toward sushi.

I'm not exactly sure what it is about this photo but it reminds me Ultima Online. I think it's the shape of the structures and the textures, you could produce some very strange effects in that game. Either way, this was one of those accidentally cool shots from the evening.
