Day 112/365: Palomitas de Maiz

Day 112/365: Palomitas de Maiz

04/22/2011:
Tonight was movie night at our house, so I made a batch of popcorn as is customary for such occasion. This was also our first fully digital movie experience in the sense that we purchased the movie in digital format (and in HD) from the iTunes Music Store on the computer and played it via our Apple TV in the living room. I was so impressed with the quality of the video that I am thinking my days of purchasing physical media (DVD or Blu-ray discs) are now over.

Camera info:
Nikon D700 | 24-70mm (ƒ/2.8) @ 70mm @ ƒ/2.8 | ISO 1000 | 1/100s

Day 111/365: Silver Spheres

Day 111/365: Silver Spheres

04/21/2011:
Today I was cleaning up some of the toys in our upstairs game room, and came across my son's Magnetix kit. These are the metal balls used to attach the magnetic sticks, and there are quite a few of them. Not having yet done my daily picture I grabbed all of them, arranged them on a plate and grabbed my camera.

Strobist Info:
- Daylight through Westcott 42" 2-stop diffusion panel camera right.
- Westcott 42" black panel camera left.

Camera info:
Nikon D700 | 24-70mm (ƒ/2.8) @ 70mm @ ƒ/2.8 | ISO 200 | 1/500s

Day 110/365: Easter Bunny Helper

Day 110/365: Easter Bunny Helper

04/20/2011:
Today we got a visit from the Easter Bunny helper, who was making her rounds to some of the families that were on the "do not visit" list, to see if there was any chance they could be removed. I bribed her with a photo, and now we are back on! Whew!

On a technical note, I've been learning to give up total control and trust on Nikon's CLS system for certain off-camera flash photos. This involves learning when it is advantageous to do so. Easter Bunny helpers are very impatient and horrible at listening, so dialing your exposure and letting the camera do the heavy lifting for me was definitely the way to go for this portrait.

Strobist Info:
- SB-900 camera left @ 20mm into 24" Lastolite EzyBox, triggered via CLS

Camera info:
Nikon D700 | 24-70mm (ƒ/2.8) @ 70mm @ ƒ/2.8 | ISO 200 | 1/1250s
