Located in the territory of the Wayúu Indians in the desert of the Guajira peninsula, the Jepirachi wind farm opened in 2004 to become the first MW-wind farm of Latin America, comprising 15 N60 turbines all producing clean electricity and connected to the grid. The name of the wind park, "Jepirachi" is a word from the language of the Wayuu Indians and means "north-east wind".
A video and an article with opposing views on the effects of the park on the Wayuu community.
