    I really like this shot - especially with the hand, and the little stripe of soup along the rim. Was the soup tasty? :-)

    tho i'm sure that a homemade version would have been better, this was pretty darn good. the tiger stripe effect was caused by carrying it to the table.

    Oh, that is a cool color soup. I had the TJs roasted red pepper yesterday. Those are the only non-homemade soups I'll eat. Trader Joe's rocks!

    This is definitely another of my favorite shots of yours. I absolutely love the simplicity of it. I have to say, though, that the first thing that came to mind was this... one of the stories in Dr. Heinrich Hoffman's macabre book Strewwelpeter (Slovenly Peter) which was meant to scare Victorian children into good behavior.

    The Story of Augustus Who Would Not Have Any Soup

    Augustus was a chubby lad;
    Fat ruddy cheeks Augustus had;
    And everybody saw with joy
    The plump and hearty healthy boy.
    He ate and drank as he was told,
    And never let his soup get cold.
    But one day, one cold winter's day,
    He scream'd out - "Take the soup away!
    O take the nasty soup away!
    I won't have any soup today."

    Next day, now look, the picture shows
    How lank and lean Augustus grows!
    Yet, though he feels so weak and ill,
    The naughty fellow cries out still -
    "Not any soup for me, I say:
    O take the nasty soup away;
    I won't have any soup today."

    The third day comes; Oh what a sin!
    To make himself so pale and thin.
    Yet, when the soup is put on table,
    He screams, as loud as he is able, -
    "Not any soup for me, I say:
    O take the nasty soup away!
    I won't have any soup today."

    Look at him, now the fourth day's come!
    He scarcely weighs a sugar-plum;
    He's like a little bit of thread,
    And on the fifth day, he was - dead!

    My friend Preston Foerder has made a fabullus adult puppet play out of the whole book.

    i love that poem, karen. i can't say i remember it, but it seems to stir up old memories. the TJ's roasted red pepper was being served as samples and that's what made me buy a bunch of those and a few others to boot.
