Bridge Huntin' Blues

Bridge Huntin' Blues

The urge can strike at anytime. A desire to pick up the camera , climb in the truck and hit the back roads far out in the country. Then it comes home that you can't go right now because of other demands on your time. You must wait till later . That's when the blues hit you.

Six panel Pratt through truss bridge over Clear Boggy Creek on E2020 two miles north of Boswell, Choctaw County, Oklahoma. Built 1919 by the Kansas City Bridge Co. of Kansas City, Missouri . Taken 12-13-08 with a Canon SX110. After processing done with PhotoScape.

Patch Job

Patch Job

A couple of former SP engines with a rough UP patch job lead a six engine lash up through Hope , Arkansas. This was one mighty long mixed freight. The restored MoPac Passenger Depot can be seen in the background left. The restored freight depot is what is casting the shadow in the foreground . Taken on 1-27-12 with a Canon SX130.
Sorry I haven't been posting or commenting on my contacts photos of late. Life gets busy sometimes and I run short of time. I will be back posting & commenting on everyones photos very soon. I have a request to make of everyone that visits this photo and knows our friend mojavegirl / Candis. I would ask you to take a moment of your time to say a prayer of healing and recovery for her. Thank you Flickr family.

Antique Clock / After Restoration

Antique Clock / After Restoration

From 1890 to 1920 the Elias Ingraham Clock Company made an Art Nouveau clock called the Zenith. The above example was made in 1915 according to it's serial number. This is the after photo taken on 1-13-12 with a Canon SX130. I have been working on it for three weeks and I am still not quite done. I have to make a new back for it as the old one had been gnawed away by rats. I disassembled the entire clock and stripped everything down to bare wood / metal. Everything was then repainted and missing / broken parts repaired / replaced . It now runs a modern quartz movement as the original mechanical movement was beyond my ability to repair and was cost prohibitive to have done by a professional. I think it turned out rather well.
