Remember Lavender?
Daydreaming Summer in November.
Today, in November, in Seattle, it rained. Not all day, just part of the day. But the clouds never left. They hung there, in the sky, like a wet wool blanket; smothering the light, flattening out the landscape, making everything, grey.
But I remember this day, the day that I took this photograph. It was the 4th of July this year. It was wonderful. The sky was clear and the sun was warm; not too warm, just perfectly warm.
I could smell the lavender wafting across the fields.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, steaks and chicken, cooking on the grill, competed with it scent. Children laughed and ran across the lawns. Old ladies sat in lawn chairs and gossiped about old times.
But nothing could diminish lavenders fragrance. It filled the senses. It was like a spa treatment for the nose. It refreshed overworked psyches and rejuvenated the mind.
It was wonderful. It was... perfection.
