masako onsen

Masako warms up her feet as she watches me photograph the monkeys coming down the mountain early in the morning. The water here this morning was way too hot for the monkeys to soak in but they still hung around. Apparently those monkeys that are driven out or that can´t get along with the other monkeys at the park ( around 500 meters upstream ) will spend their days over here, where sometimes the owners of the place we were staying at would feed them.
I tried to get Masako to stay as the monkeys approached to test the waters but she was too nervous and with good reason!

At first glance made me think of mizoguchi or one of the older japanese film artists... partly focus/dof but also so much in expressions...
