Tonight, Tonight

Tonight, Tonight

This weekend has been alright. I saw my friend Naomii this afternoon, and hung out with my brother a bit. I got a minuscule amount of studying done while lying in the sun for several hours, so at least I have a bit of a tan now, hahaha.

I wrote something more honest here, but I decided to delete it.

People's lives sometimes look nicer on the outside than they're feeling on the inside. In the last few years, I've gotten praise for my writing ability, my drumming, my guitar playing, my singing, my photography, my ability to listen, my honesty, and being a good friend. And I sincerely appreciate it.

But my self-esteem was knocked to the ground in a relentless string of verbal assaults when I was in grades 5 and 6, and while I don't think of those days very often, their effects remain. Perhaps this is why I am more modest than egotistical with my accomplishments. If it has instilled a sense of modesty and kindness in me, then I can't complain about that. But it has also given me chronic low-grade [self-diagnosed] depression, and I can't seem to shake it -- no matter what amazing things have come my way.

Not that that's your problem. I just thought I'd share it with you. Maybe I'm not alone.

If I tagged you in this photo, it's because I miss the connection we used to share on Flickr when I actually had the time and motivation to be here. If I forgot anyone, it's because I'm on the way out the door!

Service Truck of Some Sort

Service Truck of Some Sort

I have no idea what kind of vehicle this is, but I like the picture, and that's the main thing. If anyone knows what it's called, let me know!

The past few days have been good. Hung out with Nicole and Alanna, saw my grandmother who's in town, partied with Skyler, Jen, Blair, Kyle, Neil, and company, got some sun with Cecilia, and motivated my mom's dog to swim for the first time.

Tomorrow I'm picking them up from Cuba, and then on Tuesday, it's back to school!

Payphone in Truro

Payphone in Truro

Because one day, the only place you'll be able to find a payphone is in a museum.

I imagine that if I had kids, payphones would be to them what typewriters are to me.

I took this pic when I was out for a walk around Truro last winter, when I was there a few days for my grandfather's funeral. Most of the pics turned out pretty boring, but I was happy to walk around in the Maritime winter air...breathing comforting moisture into my lungs, as opposed to biting dryness.

This week has been busier for me than last week; I've hung out with Cecilia and sometimes Veronica for the past 3 days, and now I'm off to meet Nicole, who I haven't seen in two months...and I may see Ashton Pal as well! I'm hanging out with Alanna tomorrow, who I haven't seen in probably two years.

The reason why this is important to me is because during the semester, I barely saw any of my friends...and that got me down. I mean, I studied hard and it paid off, but I was bummed about not allowing myself much time to socialize. Since the break began, I've seen Skyler, Jen, Amanda, Alicia, Cecilia, Veronica, and my family, who I also didn't see much. I've also gone planespotting three times, and I plan to go again tomorrow. I put on a bit of a guitar performance for Cecilia and V-Ron on Tuesday, which may be on YouTube, hahaha. I went to the gym with Cecilia yesterday and now my shins are aching, but it was good to go back after 8 months of no real workouts. Then we grabbed V-Ron and her dog, and Penny, and went for a walk in the ravine, where Penny and Diesel ran though the woods for an hour, pretty much non-stop. Exercise for everyone!

Anyway, that's my update for now!

Air India Boeing 777-300ER

Air India Boeing 777-300ER

Normally I like to have a tighter crop around the subject of a picture, but I think this looks more dramatic when you can see more of the setting.

This is Air India flight 188, taking off from Pearson this afternoon in the rain.

I dropped off my family at the airport, on their way to Cuba, and then I went planespotting for a few hours. Eventually I decided that my hands were cold enough and my camera was wet enough, so I came home. Now I know that it's worth venturing out there in the rain sometimes!

Feathered Ice

Feathered Ice

I took this picture in January at my dad's house...and modified the color in Photoshop. If you want to see real detail, click this link and view it in Original size:

My family is off to Cuba tomorrow, and I'm staying at my mom's to take care of her dog. Although I'm jealous that I'm not going with them, I'm much closer to my friends and my photographic interests here than I would be if I had stayed at my apartment...so I'll see it as an opportunity and take advantage of it!
