MV Marilyn Bell 1

MV Marilyn Bell 1

Well, it's been almost a month since I've posted a picture to Flickr. When I was editing this picture the other day, it took me a few seconds to remember how to use the RAW editor and Photoshop.

I've picked up my camera maybe three times since Christmas.

School has been incredibly busy (compared to what I was used to), and I really don't have time for much else. I had 7 tests and 4 assignments to do in the last 3 weeks, and now that I'm on Reading Week, I can finally catch my breath.

I took the weekend off and went to the cottage...I did a bit of ice fishing, a bit of snowmobiling, and used a chainsaw for the first time. But I didn't really relax nearly as much as I thought I would. I was thinking that it would be nice to get away from the city for a day, but it started off on the wrong foot because I was an hour and a half late leaving, had to buy some food and get gas on the way, gas was way more expensive than the last time I bought it, the squeegee at the gas station scratched one of my windows, and the traffic through Durham was slow on the 401...so that put a damper on my mood before I even got to the cottage. Unfortunately, I don't have much more time for blatant self-indulgence this week. I had hoped to really pig out on junk food and play some video games for a few days, but I only did that for about 2 hours last night. I'll be taking a few evenings off this week, and studying/working on assignments during the day...so I guess that's better than the previous few weeks, where I went to school during the day and spent the remainder of the day and evening studying!

The good thing is that I've been doing really well in school. All the time I'm spending studying is driving me nuts, but it's also giving me excellent marks...so...while burnout is always visible on the horizon, hopefully this time off during reading week will help me prepare for the next half of the semester. Then I'll get a few weeks off in April...and then it's back for another round.

Which also means that I won't be going back to the Zoo this summer for the first time in seven years.

That's going to be a bit of an adjustment...I'll be going to school through the summer, instead of my old Zoo routine...but in reality, I've been so friggin' busy with school that I haven't had time to ponder anything else, like the fact that my time as a Zoo employee is over.

Maybe as the year goes on, I'll have more time to reminisce about that.

I hope you guys are all doing well!

Condensation

Condensation

Here's a bit of an update into my life recently:

1. School.

That's why I haven't been on Flickr. I'm taking eight courses and there is a lot of reading to do. Last Wednesday, I finally got the last of my books, so in the days since then, I've been catching up on the chapters I wasn't able to read. I'm getting there...but being off of Flickr on a regular basis is probably for the best while I'm in school.

Did anyone else have a huge number of views in their stats yesterday? I had 1668, which is 10 times more than I usually get on any given day!

The Softest Thing on Earth

The Softest Thing on Earth

Alright, so I went to buy my books today, but only one was available...so I only have so many books available to read...so I'm gonna post another picture, since I seem to be getting a lot of views lately.

It's also been a while since I posted a picture of Terrance! It's amazing what you can find when you look closely.

Anyway, now I'm off to band practice, even though I've been falling asleep since probably 3pm, hahaha. Tomorrow night I have to be in bed by 8pm. No more staying up until 11:30!

I've been waiting to post this picture for a long time, because I really like it... so here it is! I'm sure some of you recognize this object!

I plan on buying some or all of my school books tomorrow, so this may well be the last picture I post on Flickr for a while. I really don't know how much work this program is going to involve, but I know it's going to be "a lot", hahaha, so if you guys see me on Flickr every day, please remind me to get back to my schoolwork!

Sherbourne Station

Sherbourne Station

This is the pic I was going to post yesterday. I took this while I was on a TTC adventure with AshtonPal in September. I didn't know this entrance existed, so I'm glad he showed it to me, because I had a hard time getting a good shot of the other Sherbourne entrance!

Anyway, I've been printing stuff for school...it's hard to believe how much paper is necessary for this program. When I was in university, the course syllabi/syllabuses were usually one page; maybe two. This time, they're all at least 8 pages long. It's ridiculous. It seems to be because they're all standardized to some official college-regulated format. I guess it's just something I'm going to have to get used to. I'm glad I bought a laser printer a few months ago! It's so much faster!

Tomorrow is my only late-start day of the week, haha. I get to sleep in until 8:30! I've compared my schedule to those of a few other people in other programs, and it's not fair that I have to get up around 6:30am four days a week...but I suppose it's not all bad -- this means that I'm going to bed at the same time almost every day, which means I won't be on a wonky sleep schedule like I was in university -- going to bed at 2:30am one night, and having to go to bed at 10:00pm the next.

Hope you guys had a good weekend!
