      No, they will not tear up your seedlings and wreak havoc on the flora like the hens do...but they are messy and have a large output of poop. But you can just compost it. Ducks are very sweet and have a dog-like quality in that they will follow you everywhere. Wonder how Tater and Farley will like the ducks? Of course, if they are well-trained bird dogs they will know better than to mess with them. Quail are fun, too...tasty eggs. But you need a gaggle to produce a decent omelet.

      We hatched quail when we lived in Arizona, pheasant too. I think we might incubate and hatch a batch of quail while living in Washington this summer.

      Farley, our 7 year old GSP, doesn't hassle the hens but Tater does -- he doesn't yet know the difference between game birds and hens.
