confronting adams

ansel adams didn't like his urban los angeles shots. when he donated them to the public library, he suggested they give him a $100 for tax purposes if they thought they were worth anything. If not, they could pass them on or destroy them.

ansel adams goes urban

ansel adams was assigned to shoot in los angeles by fortune magazine. he didn't like his own images- my guess is that there wasn't the kind of control of light one can have in working a scene outdoors. it is just a different kind of photography. nonetheless, he had some great shots. this was such an unusual exhibit of this urban work.
