Sponge diving Exhibition. Done close to shore and not over active sponge beds. This diver has a broken finger. Tarpon Springs still has a large Greek community and has managed to maintain its cultural heritage to this day.

Located between Weeki-Wachee and Tarpon Springs, this was once (and still is ) a staple tourist spot on the west coast of Florida. Now a state park with many of the same animals living there. Lucifer, the hippo star from "Daktari" turns 52 on January 26. She has a party including cake every year. And she has a manatee boyfriend.

Ladies, Men and Colored. In 1964, President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, the most sweeping civil rights legislation since Reconstruction. Florida could be behind the times like most southern states at the time. Tom's was a popular snack food company out of Georgia (not sure if they're still around). And why not take home a case of delicious Pepsi or Coke (also segregated)?

The sign on the left says Souvenirs, the blue board was from a Firestone sign. I would place this not far from US 1 near Ft. Lauderdale.
