'Just Ignore Me Man'

Newer Older

This guy saw me coming... I think he'd seen me shooting other people nearby... as I closed on him he started to get a little nervous... from behind the camera I kind of whispered 'ignore me man... just ignore me' and he did.

He's got interesting eyes and I wanted to capture them at the same angle they caught my attention and it all worked out.

Faces on the street

you know ... if you can use that power for good, ....
    well,
    you could do good.

But, I see you intend to use it for evil.

Resulting, of course, in cool photos.

I tried to use the power for good Jordy... but beautiful women are so defensive and they didn't find me believable!

I think the end result of the interaction should be an interesting photograph of a person that you may never have had a chance to look closely at and thus ponder the reality of their lives and existence.

We're all so different but somehow when you look really closely you start to see how much we're all the same.

I'm capturing the faces of real people living real lives, who have real hopes and real dreams and sharing them with whoever wants to look.

I know they fascinate me incredibly.

I'd rather look at these faces than Hollywood stars or famous people.

    I'm looking at 'for real.'

    I appreciate the compliment.

And I make up stories about them in my head all the time just like I did on your shot. It keeps me engaged.

Well hes got his five star pentagram on, how can he fear the cameraman? Unless he fears the camera is going to steal his soul. Lol...very cool portrait!

Excellent shot, I tried some street shots in NY, and man not a cooperative crowd, but Chicago always is a friendlier place (well depending on where you go... Great series!

Thanks Ed! I hear you. It's all quite a tap dance but the challenge of it is thrilling... when you get in there and get that shot and it's good... it's an amazing moment in itself.

Thanks Jo! This guy was a softie... I got a little nervous when I heard him say the word 'hit' after I shot him but I relaxed when he exhaled. He dug the shots.

Thanks Audrey! I've always admired your ability to capture the context of the streets!

that's really cool, VM. It's a candid shot but he's kind of expecting it. the capture was very good and the exposure is perfect.

Thanks Dan! It was a tough day for exposure for sure but shooting in mono really saved a lot of shots. Speaking of exposure... I wish I knew how to do those night shots you're so good at!

I think Cyn's shot of this guy was better for the context she pulled into the shot... as much as I'm really drawn to the story of a face, she pulls out more of this guy's character with her shot than I did...

he looks like a gentle giant. i especially like the one just above.

  16. Viewminder 26 months ago | reply

He was a nice guy... my friend Cyn took that shot... we took a lot of similiar shots because we were shooting together all day... I'll tell you what... you could see how important the 'relationship' is between the shooter and the subject... she was really able to get people to open up or relax where I really seemed to have to take a different approach... he looks completely different and entirely at ease in her shot!

Her version wins the prize with this guy for sure.
