Lake Superior Sunrise

    I drove for eleven hours through the night to meet the boat that would take me for another three hour ride to one of the last wild places in the continental United States.

    Every mile I drove through the night released me bit by bit from the shackles of civilization that wrapped me so tightly.

    I carried in my mind only the most beautiful thoughts as I sat in the crisp and clean air on the shore of Lake Superior eager to meet the first rays of the sun's light.

    There was something special in the air even before the sun rose... I took it deep into my lungs...

    I was prepared for the beauty of this sunrise. The photograph is taken directly from my camera, the Nikon D300... nothing has been changed.

    I deeply appreciated that sunrise as it unfolded before me... and it made me wonder... why don't I watch the sun rise every day?

      Thank you... I don't know why my photo's comment permissions is all wacky... I think I'm going to have to give the people at the internet a call. I can see why you have an affinity for the blue in this picture! :)

      Rob... thank you for your kind words. I have decided that your amazing photostream exists only to torment and torture me. Do us all a favor and take a few pictures of junk cars stuck up to their fenders in mud and snow to stick in between some of those amazing underwater shots for those of us who don't seem to live in paradise!

      This picture is amazing! I love how the frame of it is centered perfectly and it captures the island centered and perfect. The colors are breathtaking and extremely vivid! It seems like paradise!:)
