In the name of capital, commerce and a greedy spirit. The eastern religions are not the only ones being made a novelty. Christianity has more than its fair share of mockery and exploitation. There is a lot of money in religion especially if what Smith says is true in his Journal: Hollywood Theology "God could be whatever the consumer wants". The author goes on to point out several movies that show God as a man that smokes, swears and is surprised at how His intervetion effects people. He doesn't know the future and has little control over mankind. This movie was very popular because it catered to popular skepticism at the time. It was consumed with vigor.
