Lake Tana is Ethiopia's largest lake and is the source of the Blue Nile River, which in turn is the source of the world's longest river, the Nile. The lake has dozens of islands, many with monastic churches founded in the 14th century. Lake Tana has been a center of worship in Ethiopia for more than 500 years.
