My three year old grandaughter had just come into the house after an evening walk around the neighbourhood. It was a cold winter's night and her cheeks had a strong rosy glow which I tried to capture.

Day 361 - Forked Tongue

While going for a walk recently I came across this Garter snake beside the path. What was unusual about the encounter was that it was early January and the temperature was just above freezing. The snake should have been hibernating, but instead was moving slowly through the grass, testing the surroundings with his forked tongue..

Day 360 - Fire In The Sky

I took this photo from my front yard a few days ago just as the rising sun had coloured the clouds with a strong red and yellow glow. The tones did not last for long and quickly mellowed as the sun rose further. The image was underexposed by 1 EV to keep the houses in profile, but the colours have not been further processed.
