Hassakeh

“My four children need medical care. They suffer from hemolysis and all of them are very young. The eldest is eight years old and the youngest in two”

This is what Mohammed told our team in Hassakeh when they visited him in his two-room-apartment built with adobe. He works in many jobs at the same time to be able to provide his family with food and life necessities, painter, carrier, and driver. Whatever he finds to do to earn money for their living, he doesn’t stop.

“It is impossible for me to cover the medical expenses of my children. Most of the time I don’t have money for medication, doctors’ consultations and blood tests. Sometimes My wife and I had to choose the worst case between my children to take them to the doctor, as I can’t afford paying for all of them at once.”

One of the family relatives told Mohamed about Caritas who are supporting families with their medical expenses. He approached our office and registered his family to get the medical support.

”Caritas removed a heavy burden from our shoulders” The mother Fatima said. “They are covering now almost 80% of my children medical expenses. We used to borrow money to get the treatment, now we don’t have to worry about that anymore.”

Caritas team continues to visit this family to check on the situation of the children continuously. “This family benefited from our medical project, and every time we visit them, we feel happy to see the children in good health and playing again with their friends in the street.” Claudia from our team in Hassakeh said.

The project that is implemented in Hassakeh focus mainly on the medical support as having medical care has become a luxury for most of the poor families in Hassakeh region. If they don’t get help, they would not be able to get medical care.

“I want to thank Caritas from all my heart. My children get back their childhood and can play again because of you…”
