Albany Skyline - August 2005
One of the few angles from which the Empire State Plaza doesn't look horribly out of scale/touch with the real downtown.
Also, your guess is as good as mine as to what that yellow blob is... probably a bird?

This is a great shot, where did you take it from?

Partition St. Extension in Rensselaer. It's one of those streets I found by looking at a map of Rens, trying to find any road that might potentially lead to a good shot of the skyline. I noticed how that road extended off towards nowhere in particular for quite a distance, and one day said, "hey let's see where the hell it goes!" Obviously, I found what I was looking for..
But keep it quiet.. this location is a little secret of mine, wink wink.

you know, I actually tried going there myself once (just like you, I looked at a map), but I couldn't get a good view with all of the trees in the way... maybe I didn't go far enough down?

Maybe.. I always go to one spot in particular, at or near the highest point of the road when you're overlooking the center of that huge mine pit. And from there I climb the dirt hill piles that line the west side of the road to get a better vantage point.
Check my photostream for the newest photo.. it should give you a better clue as to where exactly I go.
