Film flare. Say that a few times real fast. I took this image using my iPhone of the sun setting somewhere over the Midwest US while returning from business in the Southwest last week. Watching as the sun sets or rises while cruising at 38,000 feet (11 582 meters) is truly a beautiful site. Sometimes, it makes flying worth all the hassles…well almost. I added a touch of texture to the original image to give the blue a little more punch but other than that, what you see here is straight from my phone’s camera.

As a texture the bottom part of the image turns into a pretty cool old-film-flare-like effect if you use one of these Photoshop blends: during processing: lighter color, liner light, pin light. Enjoy!

Free background/texture. The starlings are real, not bird brushes. I startled them while on a walk one afternoon and decided to add them here. Enjoy!
