This is a shot that Mark set up with a snooted, heavily orange gelled strobe from the upper right. I thought it would look funky with the spiral lit up, so we put a bare flash with about half as much orange gel (all we had left) down the stairs to the left. I like the shadows that the bare strobes throw. Have to do more of this...

Key light : Softbox upper left
Rim/Hair light : Directly from back with a bit of blue gel (1/2?)

We almost went to lunch, when John had an idea for a quick setup...I'm glad I didn't miss this, it turned out great. I love how back lighting turned out!

Thanks to this couple for their patience while we messed with strobes and setups...
Strobist : Shoot thru white umbrella from front upper left, with a bare rim light from behind left.

My dining room and kitchen lit without any help from ambient lighting other than halogens. A very humbling experience, I must say. In my head this is a much moodier setting, but I just couldn't translate it to pixels...Anyways, nothing wagered, nothing gained.
Stobist info:
SB-26 with 1/2 CTO gel pointed up and behind white curtains to camera left. 1/4 power.
SB-26 with 1/2 CTO gel on 1/4 power thru white shoot thru umbrella camera left.
SB-26 with 1/2 CTO gel on 1/8 power behind bar on left.
285HV with 1/2 CTO gel thru black straw grid fired at objects on bar shelves. 1/4 power?
Triggered with modified poverty wizards (so they actually fire), and the SB-26's are of course fired optically.
