Metered

Metered

This is a Mascot II Exposure Meter from 1957, it was marketed specifically at Ladies (by General Electric) as they felt the original Mascot model (which came in Black) did not appeal to women. It sits neatly inside it's original leather case, comes with the instruction booklet and is in great working condition (it just needs a good dusting).

It came with the (1964) Voigtlander Vito CLR which I recently bought. My new addiction is Vintage Cameras, so be warned, you may be seeing some more vintage cameras and accessories!

Gulliver

Gulliver

We've had this book for some time, gathering dust on a bookshelf. I'm still laid up with the Flu (ugh) so I've had to stay indoors (again) and while looking for something to shoot, the cover caught my eye. My mum bought this for a few pence at a book sale in aid of the National Trust many years ago. I actually remember going to Saint Patrick's Trian in Armagh when we were kids, where they give a guided tour of their exhibition of The Land of Lilliput, which is inspired by Jonathan Swift’s book Gulliver’s Travels.

When you open the book, on the first page it says 'William Holmes, Drogheda - Christmas 1906', so it looks like William received this as a Christmas present over 100 years ago!

Crystar

Crystar

It may look full-size but this is actually a sub-miniature camera measuring only about 2 inches, it's called a "Hit Type" (after the popular Hit Camera) and dates from the 1950's. They were inexpensive novelty or toy cameras, produced in large quantities in Japan. I picked this battered but rather adorable one up on eBay for just a few pounds, and it comes with it's original case (though sadly no films).

I've been laid up with a really bad flu all week and haven't stepped outside the house, so this isn't the shot I had planned unfortunately. The flu and photography do not mix but I'm determined not to miss a single week of my project 52!

Anglepoise

Anglepoise

Everyone in our family loves this (very battered) Anglepoise Crabtree lamp, it needs a new plug, cable and bulb and hasn't been used in many years, but we could never bring ourselves to give it away. My mum bought it at an auction in the early eighties for my Fathers desk. It was manufactured in the 1940's by George Carwardine, although this design is no longer in production. Take a look at how the lamp looks in all it's glory.

Hopefully uploading this will give us the push to have it properly restored!

Domino

Domino

Dominoes always remind me of my childhood. My mum would help us set them up and we’d play for hours. In fact this is a Domino from our original set, which at over 20 years old, is beginning to show its age, you could even call it vintage!

This isn't part of my Project 52 as I've decided I don't want to limit myself to just one upload per week.
