I don't know about where you live, but here it's been a very strange winter. Mostly it's been unseasonably warm, but then we seem to have colder days every now and then that remind us winter is still here. Today is one of those cold, blustery days.

I noticed the fog rolling down the mountain this morning was leaving some rime on the mountain tops, so i just had to stop and take a few photos. Not more than half an hour later, I stopped at the park to take pictures of the Spring flower that are blooming WAY early.

Let me repeat - All of these photos were taken on the SAME day in mid-February.

Crocuses, daffodils, snowdrops and hellebores are all blooming already. It looks like Spring is coming REALLY early this year!

I probably don't have to point out this isn't a recent photograph! This was one of my favorites from this past summer but somehow it never got shared on Flickr. It did make an appearance on my 2012 calendar though! (Links still available on my website if you don't have one yet.)

Although the weather this winter has been somewhat mild, it's been a rollercoaster - 60s one day, teens the next. This photo makes me wish for warmer, greener times!

Happy 2012 Flickr friends! 2011 went by in the blink of an eye. I'm hoping to find more time for Flickr and my photos in the year ahead.

I think it's safe to say this will be my closest encounter ever with a peregrin falcon. I got to see this beautiful bird close enough to pet, with no bars or cages between us, at the Center for Birds of Prey in Charleston, SC this past April.

It's been long enough now that I can't remember if this bird had a name (I think maybe they told me they don't name their birds?), but I'm fairly sure it was a female. I do remember her handler trying to remove that feather from her beak and not being able to because she wouldn't let him :)
