Bluerunners Reunion at Downtown Alive!, Oct. 7, 2011, plus photos from past years
The original members of the Bluerunners reunited at Downtown Alive! at Parc International in Lafayette Oct. 7, 2011. First getting together in 1987, the Bluerunners consisted of Mark Meaux on guitar; Steve LeBlanc on drums and accordion; Rob Savoy on bass; John Maloney on drums and rubboard; soon joined by Mike McBane on drums, guitar, and percussion. Another longtime member, Adrian Huval, also performed with the band at DTA.

According to the write-up for the group’s reunion at the 2011 Jazz Fest in New Orleans, the Bluerunners have been “a major influence on the modern era of Louisiana music,” combining “Cajun, roots and alternative rock into a heady stew that included frequent detours into rockabilly and zydeco.”

I never had many chances to photograph the Bluerunners, but, in addition to the DTA performance, I have included a few shots from other Lafayette appearances a few years back at Festival International and Festivals Acadiens and at the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival.
