Bike Lanes on Washington & Jefferson vis-a-vis Light-Rail |
West of 24th St, both Washington and
Jefferson Streets have bike lanes left
of the L-R tracks that are adjacent to a
business-access motor-vehicle lane.
That part is OK, until you get to the
transition between that configuration
and the normal bike lane on the far
right, or where tracks cross from
side-to-side of the traffic lanes.
These are a few of the problems.
There are two places on eastbound Jefferson St. where the cyclists needs to traverse from far-right to far-left within the intersection (or vise versa) to continue eastbound. These transitions occur at 7th St and at 24th St. The coalition of AZ Bicyclists has proposed a solution involving a painted bicycle path and a bicycle-only segment (upon "button push" request) in the traffic light cycle.
