The Northern Lights

    Newer Older

I take shelter behind the oversized SUB and wait. The skies are dark and clear and filled with stars except for the southeastern part where a full moon outshines everything else in all its might.

The moonshine reflects in frozen ponds and braids along the lava rift river . It´s absolutely quiet, save for the hissing of the wind. Occasionally, frozen ice surfaces nearby crack or creak, but apart from that there is no sign of life or nature in motion around, save again for the wind.

Wile I talk to my-selves , I put up cameras and drink steaming coffee to keep awake. And I wait. Suddenly I leaps to my cameras and, yes, the skies start to light up with glooming green, yellow, blue and red lights that dance across the ice-clad horizon.

The Northern Lights are on, the aurora borealis illuminates the heavens. In a few minutes the skies become ablaze and I clicks and works fast with three cameras; exposure time is long so that it´s better to have more than one camera.

Mood and wonderful feelings go through my mind, it tricker wonderful old moment, I have lived so good time in my live at least I think so now. In some 15 minutes or so, the light begins to fade and in 20, only stars pierce the darkness above.
believe me driving 100 km was worth of stooping time for 20 minutes and her you can see feew sec time stopper

I'd love to see the northern lights in person, all the photos I've seen make them seem like quite a spectacle.
