Brittany

Brittany

Probably my favorite shot from my latest session with Brittany on Thursday. She really is a fun subject to work with as she is completely open to anything and not at all shy in front of the camera.

Lighting was from the sun through a 43" diffuser that was barely held in place by my head against the brick wall you see to camera right. That huge diffuser so close gives a lovely super soft light quality which works well in this shot, in my opinion.

She LOVES her shoes!

She LOVES her shoes!

One of the fun shots taken during my headshot session yesterday. She was sad that her shoes wouldn't be in the pictures but didn't want full body.. so I said why not take them off.. so she did. :)

Lighting info: ab-800 into 61" silver PLM with diffuse cloth for the background, was between 1/32nd and 1/16th power. Einstein into 45" bounce umbrella directly above my head when I took the shot, abou 3' away from Sarah. All lights triggered via cybersyncs

Soft Beauty

Soft Beauty

The light here was extremely soft and beautiful. I have driven past this location a hundred times and wanted to shoot here, was glad to finally be able to.

Kelley Minty Morris

Kelley Minty Morris

I chose to take a picture of Kelley Minty Morris for the first assignment of the Strobist Boot Camp 3. Kelley works with Citizens for Safe Schools and coordinates volunteer mentors for kids in the program. She matches up kids between 4th and 8th grade who are in need of some positive adult mentoring with local mentors. Kelley also works with the "Stop the Hurt" program(www.klamathstopthehurt.org) in an effort to stop child abuse in our county. Kelley also has a background in TV broadcasting, in fact she worked for the local news station for many years. She is also an all around great person and a pleasure to be around.

Lighting info:
sb-900 on light stand bounced into walls to camera right at 1/8th power, zoomed all the way out, triggered by Cybersync.

This shot was taken in a stairwell so the walls were close, turning my sb-900 into a 7'x7' light source.

I set my camera to F/4, ISO 200 and 1/100th so the natural light in the window behind her came through, otherwise it would have just been a black strip with a white reflection of the walls I bounced my flash off of.
