Lovely job, strange how it doesn't have the yellow dots, yet it's an ARV..

What does that star thing on the roof mean? Also its got 02 whereas most have 01?

    3. TRSZ 24 months ago | reply

The star would denote that the vehicle carrying that star is an Armed Response Vehicle (ARV)! Not too sure why, but only ARV's carry the 02 roof code whereas the rest of the Metropolitan Police fleet carry 01.

I reckon it's just had the screen replaced ... dots to follow. ;)

I might very well be wrong, buuuut, RPUS also has rood ID 2

    6. TRSZ 24 months ago | reply

      - Buuuuut, it has a star which means 'tis an ARV, and it doesn't have the battenburg unlike other RPU vehicles!

      CO19 Supervisor vehicle

Thanks metcopper! Its good to get the info!

Apparently both the DPG and CO19 supervisor vehicles don't have the yellow spots on. The 02 isn't just for ARV's, any Met vehicle that is not a borough unit is 02, whereas borough units are 01.

Great catch as per usual Ken, by the way!

Thanks for the update Jon-999 it all adds to the knowledge base!

    11. metcopper 24 months ago | reply

It's not quite as simple as borough/non-borough, it is only CO19 and SO6 ARVs (if you notice Zafiras from DPG have 01, along with Traffic, TSG and more). Why they have 02 only on those certain vehicles I don't know.

Ah right, there was a photo on here (Although the user has since closed his account) that was a birds-eye view of a Merc Vito belonging to the safer transport command that had an 02 roof code, and a Met Bobby commented on it saying it was 02 for non-borough units, that's why I thought that.

Yeah I originally thought it was how you explained it too. That would probably make too much sense for the Met though I guess
