A Successful Hunt [Explore]

Another installment in my "Constructed Fairytales" series. I set out to do something more warrior-like, but my daughter came up with this pose and idea, where the arrow is sticking straight up because she has made a kill.

She understands how throughout time, some people have had to live off the land and hunt to survive. But the thought of it probably inspired her soulful expression.

I bought the headdress from an Etsy seller, the bow and arrow from eBay (it is a Katniss replica bow) and I borrowed the cool leather armor from the costume department at Universal Studios.

I posted a behind the scenes shot in color on my Facebook page.

What an interesting idea. I love the costume too (and the focus). I really like the concept and that's very cool that your daughter came up with the idea and pose! :D

love the back lighting...really brings out the details in the feathers. Her expression is spot on, I can really feel her grief. the lighting on her face couldn't be any better. Love her idea of the arrow sticking up, it's unique! The b&w gives the pic more impact. It definitely tells a story and your daughter did a wonderful job acting it out.

Nice selective focus kind of effect. The monochrome conversion rocks, too. Great shot.

Wow this spot looks familiar. I do a lot of photo shoots up in the hills just north of LA and this golden grass looks like any one of them. Awesome stuff!
