Corgi 1959 Chev Impala restoration
....show and shine, baby. This was a black Highway Patrol car that was missing tires and the antenna (replaced with a guitar string, of course ;)) and had a horrific paintjob, but I was equal to the task, and am happy with the result...for now.

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called 1959 and 1960 Chevrolets, and we'd love to have this added to the group!
A diecast '59 Chevy, didn't even know such a thing existed. You did a great job.

Hey Brain Toad, thanks for adding me, and for your comments, though this may be only a temporary paint scheme as I feel like changing it to a lovely shade of vermillion! Oh yeah, Corgi did this baby the year it came out. I have another in its original paintjob (it was found in much better shape than this one and one day soon I will post it next to this one for comparison). Lesney did a tiny one (HO?) about the same time; it's cuter n' hell, but quite basic, and hard to find more or less intact unless you feel like paying hella money for a mint one . Hot Wheels does one though it is done in a crass contemporary 'urban' way (low-profile tires and obnoxious paint) but features spats over the rear tires, so could be done properly with a little patience. Plus, Johnny Lightning does one too, I think, and if it's like the '58 Plymouth Belvedere I have it probably ROCKS. Later, G.

It is beautiful! How did you removed the rivet on the base-plate? :)
gnomemeansgnome (15 months ago | reply)
I removed the rivet with my Dremel. Of course, once I was done I had to crazy glue the chassis back to the body.

Oh I see. So you used Dremel drill right? :)

Yeah. It was the only way I could separate the body so I could repaint it. I have since added a very watered down (with isopropyl alcohol) flat black wash to bring out the subtler details, which seems to make it look more real.
