Taking a break from packing and uploading a last few from florida before I head to Costa Rica in less than 24 hours. I leave tomorrow afternoon, have a 12 hour layover in Houston, and then CR!

Since the manatees (Trichechus manatus latirostris) were the most exciting subject for me to photograph in Florida, I think it is fitting for me to post this photo last. A mother swims by with her calf.

One more of the Florida Box turtle (Terrapene carolina bauri), its one of the 6 subspecies of the common box turtle and I was happy to run across 2 of these during my brief trip to Florida.

This was a largish gator that was interested in me in my kayak. He/she was never threatening but stayed with me for a while as i kayaked around. It would dive from time to time and surface somewhere nearby, getting a decent shot from the kayak proved to not be as easy as i would have thought.
