I must remember to trim threads for closeups. =)

I like how the AMH fabric looks like little faces looking surprised at you.

I really like the calm centre, in contrast to all that pink/orange! (But I do like the pink/orange too, very intense!)

I hadn't noticed the little faces before. I see it now complete with shoulders and a button up shirt.

I've realized that I pretty much only do "intense." I think I'm drawn to the really saturated, solid colors.

These are looking good, how do they look next to each other? Or are you separating them.?

    6. badskirt - amy (4 months ago | reply)

They look really good together. This picture was actually next to the first one, but I cropped it. If you look at the set I started for this block, you get some idea of how they work together.

I'm still torn undecided on what color palette that I'm using. Pinks, peaches, reds... not sure if I'll branch way out or stick with warm tones. I also don't know if I'll use just solids on the background or mix it up. Any opinions?

I really like the solids for the background. I would probably try one the other way just to see if I liked it as well. Love your blocks.

These are great. You have such a knack for fabrics! The solids is what I like about them, I think too many patterns makes it confusing and doesn't define the design so well.

Another gorgeous block, I like the solids too. Gives the eye a place to stop and rest. You've done a beautiful job with the placement of that Buttoned Up fabric!!

love the colours...use of the solids gives the block a retro feel...beautiful!

I spotted the little faces straight away too! Love it!

Solids it is! Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Now to see what colours I've got in my stash. I'm thinking warms - pinks, oranges, yellows, reds with maybe unexpected pops here and there.

I always think this AMH fabric reminds me of cat faces!
      This is a fab block!

love this one! Coral is a great solid for this

Love this version, Amy! The orange stripes against the coral solid vibrate a little. Of course, I'm partial to that center...colorwise, that is. ;-) Is this now heading toward a stand alone quilt? I thought the first block was for a sampler piece.

The first block was supposed to be for the teal/citron/brown sampler but I made one corner and it was too noisy (newsprint + yuwa dots), The pink stack was sitting on my desk, so I decided to zoom ahead and see what I could come up with. None today though because I've got a superbowl partty.

And, of course, the opportunity came up yesterday to make small houses for Japan. That distracted me and seems more worthwhile!
