@noel, xmas is the perfect time to give it a try lots of lights around and cold, dark days
@patti, you can make the cover for free! But I guess you need a fast lens like the Canon 50mm or the Nikon equivalent =]

Adam, thanks for the info! I'd love to give it a try.I have the 50mm 1.4, plus a couple 2.8's.(Canon person here :o) Where do I find out how to make one?

Ahh perfect! Take a look at my facebook images there is a kit list on there:
The hoods i used are in this image. To make one just cut a small shape on card and create a hood that will slip over the lens and only let light in that is the shape you cut, drop me a mail if you need anymore help =]

Bizarre and brilliant. One of my colleagues told me about this affect, but I hadn't seen any examples up to now. Star shaped cut out over the lens and then shoot some sparkly stuff, yea?
