The Cask of Dreams

The Cask of Dreams

What's all the Rave about Single Malt Scotch Whisky? I decided to give it a "Go" as the Brits might Say, and see for myself! Now It's not for everyone, and I probably won't fill my Flickr Universe with images of different Scotch Brands, but after I purchased this one today and got it undressed, I decided It may make a good subject for the Camera.

For those who are interested, here is a little more info:
Found this Rare Ltd. Edition on the Shelf at the Local Pkg. Store today. I really wasn't looking for a special limited edition, but it just jumped into my basket. Now I'm just starting out with Single Malts, and far from an expert, but this just looked too good to pass up. As I was checking out, there were other customers very interested, excited, curious, and one who was almost drooling. I had no Idea! I've bought package Liquor for years and never had a reaction like this.
Now, after taking Photos, Breaking the Seal, and having a taste, I would say it was worth the trip and I have a prize that will last a long time.

BTW, The Whisky Salesman happened to be on site, and he gave me a great tip:
I asked if the Bottle would survive in storage for "Years". The answer was to keep the Cap or Lid very tightly closed, and if it happened to have a cork, to lay the bottle on it's side so the Cork could stay moist and would provide a good seal. And, YES, bottles should last for "Years" if properly stored. (I have other Whiskies that have been in my cabinet for over 10 years and still maintain they taste and flavor.)

What is a Sip?
Well I had all sorts of ideas of what a Sip would be. Some peopel who drink in the PUB may say it would be an Ounce, Shot, or Jigger full. Not So Fast! The fine art of Sippin Scotch would be a Dram. So, What's a Dram? (Heck, I never knew either) It's about 2/3 Tea Spoon Full, or 1/8 Fl. Oz. (Wikipedia) Now, I have to Agree, that's a plenty to wet your lips, then slide it back onto your tounge, and roll it around in your mouth to fully exploit all the different flavors that are to be had. (Who knew that there would be a time delayed release of all those subtle, but tantilizing flavors?)
So, as a novice Taster of Fine Soctch Single Malt Whisky, I have to say, so far, I am enjoying this, and at the same time learning more about the great History of Scotch Whisky and the struggles the Distilleries had to overcome in the early days. There is a great deal of information on the Web for anyone who is interested in the subject.

So, I feel a call'in,
A dram so near,
if I don't go a lookin,
I may miss it, I fear.

Gardener Lake

Gardener Lake

Beartooth Pass, Located on the Wyoming and Montana Border, is one of the most beautiful passes I've seen. There are photo stops everywhere, and Sunrise is one of the best times to capture the Awsome Landscapes.
This is on Hwy 212 at the Gardner Lake Pullout, about 150 yds off the Hwy.
