Love padlocks - Cadenas d'amour
Love padlocks are a custom by which sweethearts affix padlocks to a fence or similar public fixture to symbolize their love. Most common place of Love padlocks are railings of the bridges. It is suggested that the custom of 'locking a padlock and throwing away the key' probably originated in China.
Love locks have started appearing on the Hohenzollern Bridge in Cologne, Germany. Deutsche Bahn, the bridge's operator, threatened to have the locks removed, but relented in the face of public opposition.
Les cadenas d'amour sont des cadenas que des couples amoureux accrochent sur des ponts ou des équipements publics pour symboliser leur amour. Les cadenas comportent parfois les noms de ceux qui les accrochent, ou une autre inscription décrivant leur relation. Il est d'usage de jeter ensuite la clé, par exemple dans la rivière qui coule sous le pont.
