"Bamboo" the Asian Elephant 6
This is Bamboo, one of the Female Asian Elephants at Woodland Park Zoo. Here is what the zoo's website (zoo.org) has to say about her:
"Bamboo
Adult Female Asian Elephant
Born: 1967, in Thailand
Weight: around 8,000 pounds (June 2006)
History: Bamboo arrived at Woodland Park Zoo from Thailand in 1968 at approximately a year old. She started out living in the Children’s Zoo in the Family Farm before she was moved to the old Elephant House. In 1989 Bamboo moved to the newly built Elephant Forest along with the rest of the herd.
Distinctive features: Bamboo is the "hairier" of the two adult Asian elephants."
