I am fascinated by these beautiful birds. Whenever we visit Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, about an hour's drive north of Brisbane, I spend much of my time photographing these magnificent birds, and marvelling at their splendour.

Caterpillar of the Common Crow butterfly

This one is on a fig pot plant on our back patio.

Common Crow Butterfly caterpillars feed on a wide range of native plants. They are often found in gardens feeding on Ficus (figs), Hoya, Mandevilla, Nerium oleander, Trachelospermum (star jasmines). The larvae eat the leaf and soft stem parts.

Their range is throughout tropical Australia and eastern Queensland.
