Building Disability Remote 2.0
This is a custom remote control for my father in law who suffered a C-5 spinal chord injury, leaving his hands and legs mostly immobile. He has limited shoulder and elbow movement.

The project used components from SparkFun, RadioShack, and other things found around the house. With the arrow keys and the "select" button, he can navigate between his 9 favorite preset menus. The goal is to expand this unit with more functionality once he practices the arrow keys. Next addition with the be "Guide" menu on the side of the remote.

The components were soldered to the circuit board of an existing DirectTV remote control, and mounted to the side of the bed using a commercial DSLR tripod mounting kit.
