      these are really pretty but i am confused about the purpose. is it for bowls that you don't want to use for the kitchen anymore (rather, for decorative storage)?

      Yes, they are for decorative purposes, but if you need a mixing bowl, you can always whip the cover off and use it!
      I find the shape pleasing on my coffee table and fill with with other decorations, etc.
