- Apparently, production in BC accounts for 12% of the North American crop of cranberries.
Mystery Cranberries
We walk past this three times a week, but on this day we were startled to see this conquest of the pond by cranberries. It was a mystery as to why they were put there. There has been no signs of any sort of cultivation in this pond, so the berries must have been harvested then dumped here. Beautiful but strange.

Today [November 5 (remember remember the 5th of November)], we passed a workcrew emptying the cranberries. I asked one of the workers what the deal was, and he said that there had been a media event a few days ago and the cranberries were part of it. I didn’t quite hear, but I think he said it was promoting the fact that BC is a major cranberry producer. He also wasn’t clear if the media event was for the Olympic organizers or for the cranberry producers. I tried a search on Google News, but got zero hits for Richmond-Olympics-cranberry related results.

It looks like one of those "magic eye" pictures, without the hidden picture.

Are you sure they weren't just making an Ocean Spray commercial with those two guys standing in the middle of the cranberry bog?
