Manta Rays At Night! :0) BEYOND LUCKY!

The light attracts plankton which the mantas eat. A record number of mantas here feeding! Lucky night!

Sooooo happy this video turned out good. :)))
We stayed in the water for this show for like 40 minutes. We arrived at the spot not far from shore. Watched the sunset then at dark got in the water and held on to a floating ring. My husband was holding a flashlight...some of the snorkelers held flashlights. The divers below were positioned on the lava bed with lights. The mantas came quickly and started doing their barrel rolls to scoop plankton into their mouths.

It felt surreal.....

Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.....from the airplane...

The Big Island of Hawaii.
This is the wet side of the island. The airplane went around and landed on the other side in Kona, on the dry side of the island.
Still here in Hawaii for a few more days.... :)))
