Trash Day

This pile of styrofoam outside the Tokyo Fish Market. I'm sure this all gets recycled (I hope). Still amazing to see so much.

Having been to Japan several times I can attest to their almost fanatical devotion to proper waste management and recycling.

Recycling bins and sorted trash cans are as common a sight in Japan as gum stuck to subway rails is in New York. Even the fast food restaurants have you sort out your plastic, paper and styrofoam instead of dumping it all into one big bin.
