Jungle cactus Selenicereus

My Selenicereus has flowered lots! (from cutting 3 years ago.. last year it had just 2 flowers) They open just before sunset and later have a very strong perfume.

Congratulations! This species has a reputation for being difficult to flower. When I was a teen I grew this species outdoors in southern California. While it grew well, it never flowered. I have seen it grown in Cape Verde and was told it also never flowered.

Thank you, yes it is a nice plant. Its an epiphyllum that some alien tweaked and re-rendered in alien-photoshop.

Its flowered every year since the first time
(3 years). It might be good if it is pot-bound.. or has dry periods.. you know ... how plants often flower when they think they r gonna die : ) It never gets really dehydrated tho.. I fertilize it and everything.. but no special treatment at all.
Im in south queensland here.. very similar climate and latitude to south.california. I dont know.
Ive got a baby cutting of another thinner leaved with more pointed tips.. not sure of the sp.name tho.

Southern California would be more subtropical like south Queensland, however the chilly Pacific waters keep the climate Mediterranean, (just like what happens in the West Cape of South Africa and south, coastal Namibia). Your night temperatures in winter are probably 7-8°C warmer than in most of southern California.
