This Guy Does Not Get Out Much Huh?

This Guy Does Not Get Out Much Huh?

The concept of my choice for my self portrait was to show that I like playing videogames. I usually like to goof off and have fun but trying to stay on top of school work pretty much occupies all of my times so when I do get a chance to game I try to go all out as you can see in the picture.

Before taking the picture I metered for the television to make sure it was properly exposed in the background.

While taking the photo I made sure to adjust my white balance settings for fluorescent as I was inside of a building. I chose a 5.6 F-Stop because I wanted everything to be in focus with minimal blur.

I chose to stand on the right third of the image as to not be centered but to create more visual appeal. There are a lot of vertical and horizontal lines on the setup of the game system so I chose to lean in a bit to become the main focal point breaking the mold of the static lines.

For this image I actually used two lights of different powers to illuminate this picture. My lighting source on the right of the picture was the strongest while I had my sister hold a lighting source that was weaker a bit closer to the image.

In Photoshop I had to adjust the levels and curves of this picture as well as the perspective to get the proper illumination and accurate horizontal layout.

Flaming Flowers

Flaming Flowers

Here is a product shot I created using a flower and a candle. My main light was coming from the left and I used a softer light from the right a bit to highlight a couple of the shadows. My orientation for this shot was a bit off as my subject is a bit to close to the backdrop.

The concept I was going for was to show beauty growing from within a candle as a flower. If I were to see this product in a store I may stop to see what it is about because it sparks a bit of interest to see a live flower growing from a candle base.

The Childs Perspective

The Childs Perspective

My concept for this image was youthfulness. I wanted to shoot this shot from a child's perspective showing so many colors, angles, the playfulness of climbing tree's that is often forgottten upon first glance.

This image was shot in in shade on a sunny day. The sun is shining directly down on the viewer emphasizing the persons horizon letting them associate the sunlight with up. Your eyes visually climb up from foreground to background creating a very nice cove of visual interest.

Down Under

Down Under

This image was shot with direct sunlight from underneath in the shadows. I used a small amount of flash to highlight the shadowed areas underneath the leaves.

My concept for the week was nature and I thought this image could be used in a "Pikes Nursery" type ad.
