You never leave someone behind, you take a part of them with you... and leave a part of yourself behind.

You never leave someone behind, you take a part of them with you... and leave a part of yourself behind.

This photo was taken on a particularly lovely day at the hot springs of La Gruta just outside San Miguel.

The day was laden with emotion for me. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't shake the heavy heart I carried for my friend Robert all day.

I finally stopped trying to push the ache away and embraced it. Once I had accepted it, I felt him there with me. I swam to the furthest, darkest corner of the cave that had the warmest water then let my tears flow. All the while, hearing his laugh, hearing his words of encouragement that everything, in fact, would be alright.

I've felt a little bit better ever since.

when he told me

when he told me

that they intended to strip the rotten wood from the flatcar and rebuild it so they could put her back into use I felt my heart swell a little... moving a bit of melancholy out of the way to make room for more hope.

we will miss this home so much...

promise.
