Surrounded

    I think one of the cross country parents took this photo ... even though the quality is so poor, I kinda like it that way.

      these kind of shots are really hard to do well, because it's usually in an outdoor situation where the subjects are backlit, and their faces looking down are totally shaded. you have to flash at them to brighten the faces, without making them look blown out. this photographer did a good job of getting a lot of people in -- like s/he was down in a hole or something. :)

      I can't remember who took the photo ... the EXIF data states that it was taken with a D70, so it probably was my camera, but I'm in the photo. I think one of the praents on my team also has a D70 ... but my best guess is that I turned on the self-timer, stuck it on the ground, and got lucky. That would probably explain the lack of flash.

      I considered making it b/w and more realistic, but ended up liking the high-contrast antique look.
