Skating at Skateraw
The east coast was the best bet this morning so we headed for Skateraw near Dunbar. I shot this image looking towards Torness Nuclear Power Station with the dawn sky coming up behind it.
I then took a wander along the bay towards Torness to try a shot of the mooring platforms. It was like skating on ice and I fell twice on route. It’s a dangerous game, photography! No personal injury but my cable release snapped and one of my fine tune controls on my Manfrotto 410 geared head seems to be knackered. No cable release, no chance of any Big Stoppers this morning!
As we were getting ready to head home we were approached by an armed Civil Nuclear Police Constable who was very pleasant. He informed us that a local had phoned to alert them of two photographers near the power station. Judging by his conversation it’s a common occurrence and it’s more often bird watcher’s with scopes. He said his knowledge of the local bird life is growing daily. We only had a short chat as he did not wish any photography tuition before we headed back to the car.
