Taken almost a month ago during a short holiday break to the Sunshine Coast. I enjoyed observing the water patterns, as my paranoid mother watched a man who was hanging around like an eagle protecting its nest. She grabbed a big ruddy piece of wood, I dont know why, presumably to "protect" whatever it was she was paranoid of. I kindly explained to her that the camera was attached to me and that I could release my tripod at any stage and that'd be more effective than the wood. But everyone loves a background story, right?

Title of this work, is taken from a line in The X-Files during the episode called "Pusher" where by a psychic convincing, he has the ability to manipulate people the way he needs. This in no way is anything the same, however, the intense blues and the serenity of the image makes me think of his opening tagline "Cerulean Blue, It's a gentle breeze, cerulean blue...."

From the archives!!!

I took this back in 2010 when I had ownership of a D3000 whilst my D700 was getting repaired for a circuitry fault. Since then it's sat in my archives feeling a little bit unloved. This was until I dug it up, reprocessed it and gave it a whole new shine! I realise the darkening of the sky is unnatural, and in part of my brain I wanted to edit in stars, but i like it as it is.

The title of this image comes from a conversation I had with my mother about the ability to see things differently, as a photographer.

She didn't see anything special in these rocks, and why would she? The compositional elements, the sky and the background all seemed fairly mundane. It was the ability, she said, to visualise how the water was going to move when it wrapped itself around the rocks and pulled back into the ocean, that made her realise what I saw - not quite in the same way, but that to recognise the movements and remember them, to time them correctly and to have the right angle. Either way, I see like this, to imagine is to be alive, to create is to live, to stop, would be death.

Natural Bridge, Springbrook National Park, QLD

Over the past week, Queensland has received alot of rain due to some unique weather conditions combining together. The region has received over 500mm in one week... completely unprecedented totals which has seen all creeks and waterfalls in the area activate like crazy. Natural arch, the most well known of all of these, was in full roar. I simply cannot describe the sounds coming from this beauty as the water spilled endlessly through the arch into the stream below. Waterfalls I've never seen before appeared on distant mountain peaks and normally quiet rocky corners turned into small falls themselves. You can compare this shot to the one two images below - I was only there a few weeks ago. Couldn't resist the urge to go back and document it!
