A fire engine. Okay, the same colour as a fire engine.

Drove this brand new beauty to Miami and back. Wonderful. Lacks the punch of the S-Class, but a sweet ride nonetheless.

City of Falling Angels

City of Falling Angels

Like pretty much everyone else who read "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" I adored it.

This is by John Berendt, the same author. Unlike many of the bargain books I buy, I see why this one was remaindered. It works, but wanders somewhat self-indulgently. The chapters on Ezra Pound, for instance, were boring. Mr Berendt needed more material and a tighter edit.

Other than that, it's a interesting take on the travel book.

For four bucks, who would complain too much?

Sunrise. While waiting for nice customers.

Sometimes getting up early is good....allthough perhaps not for this reason.

Beau the Pelican

Beau the Pelican

Beau's not stupid. If you're a pelican, what better place to hang around than a bait shop, where your food is handed to you by obliging staff? Fresh out of the tank, no less.

The Third Translation.

The Third Translation.

It astounds me how such wonderful books continue to be sold below both their cost and their worth. This, for example, I bought for a dollar. The probabaly ten hours it took to read cost out at ten cents per, but the pleasure derived was priceless.

A fascinating, accessible book, full of slightly askew characters, whimsy and intelligence.

Thank-you Mr Bondurant, and I hope you make more on your next novel.
