1993 XO-2 vs 2011 rSOGN
My much awaited rSogn frame and fork has arrived finally - however it arrived after I lucked into a long sought after 1993 XO-2.
I haven't built my rSogn up - the one pictured here is from Passhunter ( www.flickr.com/photos/7556426@N06/5973908379/in/photostream/ ). I leaned Freds XL rSogn up against my XO-2 and the geometry similarities were remarkable. Didn't take a pic at that point but wish I had.
In the face of these similarities - and because I have a Karate Monkey - I'm having a hard time justifying my rSogn build. They are VERY similar bikes. Seat tube and head tube angles are the same. rSogn has a sloping top tube, a low trail fork, more brazeons and more tire clearance, but runs the far less common 650b tire size. The XO-2 runs the more prolific and more universal 26in wheel size, will easily take 2.1in tires WITH fenders, no problem. With 26in tires the XO-2 has a far far broader selection to pull from, but the 650b tires made for the rSogn are usually nicer tires though only found in small segments of the US and Japan, and usually only by special order.
