One of the newspapers in Calgary, the Calgary Herald, ran a story today covering the increasing frequency of Auroral displays. They contacted me yesterday and kindly asked if they could use one of my photos for the story ... and gave my photo a full page width!

Managed to catch a bit of an unexpected Aurora storm last night, and was also able to bring my daughter's out to see the most active part (though, I didn't have my camera until later :( )

Managed to find a south-facing location without a hill or direct lights from city or farm in my shots. Though, there's still some glow from the town of Crossfield.

Accidental shot of my dash (with faint Aurora and stars out the windshield) when I set my camera down on the passenger seat. Even managed to capture the Big Dipper through the windshield.

In this photo, I'm facing West, with Venus and Jupiter in the shot and faint Aurora to the South. It wasn't a very active evening for Aurora, but at times the Auroral oval reached quite far south of my location near Calgary.
